BARREL FUTURITY RULES & REGULATIONS
$18,000 added and a saddle to the winner

1.  The 5-State Breeders Barrel Futurity will be supervised by our Corporation Directors and their decision will be FINAL. We reserve the right to refuse entry to any horse or individual.  No discrimination will be tolerated. 
2.  The 5-State Breeders Barrel Futurity will be held on September 10-12th, 2010 in Rapid City, South Dakota at the Pennington County Event Center.
3. The Futurity is open to horses that are five years old or younger. Horses must not have reached the age of six by the time of Futurity. Horses must be an offspring of one of the paid to date Stallions for 2010 or one of the Stallions if said Stallion is eligible. Horses must be checked in prior to running. Horses must be registered.
4. To be eligible for the Futurity, the horse must NEVER have competed in ANY barrel race, including AQHA shows, playdays, novice horse events, derbies, rodeos, etc. prior to December 1, 2009. To do so means forfeit of any and all fees paid and elimination from the futurity. However, horses may have competed anywhere after December 1, 2009. Horses may have been entered in other events.
5. Owners may enter more than one horse. The owner does not have to ride his/her horse. Either male or female rider is allowed. There will be no age limit on the rider. All riders must be designated on or before August 30, 2010. Should a nominated horse be sold during the course of the payment period, written authorization must be received from the original owner before horse can continue to be paid on. If no authorization is received, horse will be required to renominate from beginning.
6. There will be two go-rounds and the finals in the 5-State Breeders Barrel Futurity. Total times of the two go-rounds will determine the horses that qualify for the finals. The total time of the two go-rounds plus the final time will determine the Championship Standings and Winner of the 1st place award.
7. The number of horses going to the finals will be a minimum of 20% of those entered.
8. Substitutions are allowed only due to illness, injury or death of the nominated horse. A veterinarian’s affidavit of proof MUST accompany substitutions along with a $25.00 fee. Deadline for substitutions will be August 30, 2010. The necessary papers on the horse must accompany the fee. Any substituted horse will be ridden by the originally nominated rider. No exceptions.
9. An electric eye will be used. Should the electric eye fail, you will be given the choice to take the hand time, before your time is announced, or take a rerun. Rerun will carry penalties with it.
10. NOMINATION FEES:
$70.00 to Nominate May 1-May 5. Any nomination fee postmarked May 6 or later will be considered late. **See late nomination payments. (Any sustaining payment postmarked after the 1st will be assessed a $20 fine) NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

$70.00 to Sustain July 1
$70.00 to Sustain August 1
$280.00 TOTAL NOMINATION FEES

11. Late nominations/sustaining payments MUST BE PAID BY AUGUST 30th, 2010. After August 1, 2010, entries accepted with money orders or cashiers checks ONLY.
LATE NOMINATIONS/PAYMENTS ARE $20.00 per late payment.
12. NO REFUNDS IN ANY CASE. PAYMENT MUST ACCOMPANY THE NOMINATION.
13. A photocopy of the front and back of the registration papers of horses must accompany all nominations: if not included, will be figured as late payments until received.
14. CURRENT HEALTH PAPERS & COGGINS REQUIRED ON ALL HORSES. HEALTH PAPERS MUST HAVE DESIGNATED ON THE DESTINATION: 5-STATE BREEDERS BARREL FUTURITY-RAPID CITY, S.D. This step is to protect you from costly fines by the State of South Dakota.
15.  There will be a charge of $65.00 of the total entry fee per horse with the balance being added to the purse. The $65.00 includes administration charge, timer charge, and starting fees. The division of the purse will be:
25% to the First Go-Round
25% to the Second Go-Round
25% to the Short Go
25% to the Championship Standings
16. All checks for entry will be made payable to “5-State Breeders Barrel Futurity”.  Any insufficient fund checks received will automatically require that you pay with cashier checks or money orders for the balance of the payment schedule. Those payments made with ISF checks will be assessed a $20 fee in addition to any late fees.
18. The money jackpotted will be the added purse plus $205.00 for all the horses that are 100% paid up whether they run or not. (All Late Fees & Drop Out Fees Are Retained By Committee).

 

AMATEUR DIVISION (FUTURITY) - $2,000 added and saddle to the winner

Amateur must be Futurity Entrant. An "Amateur“ Entry is one who has never won $501 and over in actual futurity money prior to December 1, 2009. You may NOT HAVE or EVER HAVE HAD a WPRA or PWBRA card or filled a PWBRA or WPRA permit. You must not have been a previous 5-State Futurity Amateur Champion.  You MUST DESIGNATE your Amateur Status on the enclosed entry form. No additional entry fee other than your Futurity Entry Fee is required. Any entry form NOT MARKED is considered a "NO". No additions or changes will be made after August 30, 2010. The total purse is paid out on a TWO RUN average and saddle will be awarded to fastest time on the two run average regardless of your possible short go advancement. Division of the purse will be:
25% 1st go
25% 2nd go 
50% average on two

 

MATURITY RULES - $3,000 added and a saddle to the winner

1. Maturity horses will be required to have Registration Papers. The Maturity is open to horses that are 6 years old (5 year old if horse ran as 4 year old in futurities) and older; and, they must be an offspring of one of the paid to date Stallions for 2010 (or one of said Stallions-if eligible) or they must have been 100% paid in any previous 5-State Breeders Futurity or Maturity.
2. There will be two go-rounds.
3. Entry Fees will be $150.00, of which $30.00 is an administration charge.
4. The Division of the Purse will be:
25% to the First Go-Round
25% to the Second Go-Round
50% to the Average
5. Payments on Maturity:
$50.00 Nomination Due June 1-June 5 – Any nomination fee postmarked June 6 or later will be considered LATE. **See late nomination payments. Any Sustaining payment postmarked after the 1st will be assessed a $20 fine. There will be No Exceptions.
$50.00 Sustain Due July 1
$50.00 Sustain Due August 1
$150.00 Total Entry Fee
6. Late nominations/sustaining payments will be accepted up to August 30, 2010. The late nomination/sustaining payments will be paid on this date with money order or cashiers checks ONLY. Late nomination payments will be $20.00 per payment missed.
7. The money jackpotted will be the Added purse plus $120.00 of all the horses that are 100% paid up whether they run or not. (All Late Fees & Drop Out Fees are Retained by the Committee).
8. Futurity Rules & Regulations will apply to the Maturity where Directors deem necessary. 



                   POLE BENDING RULES - $250 added and awards

1.  The Futurity is open to horses that are five years old or younger. Horses must not have reached the age of six by the time of Futurity.  To be eligible for the Futurity, the horse must NEVER have competed in ANY pole bending, including AQHA shows, playdays, novice horse events, derbies, rodeos, etc. prior to December 1, 2009. To do so means forfeit of any and all fees paid and elimination from the futurity. However, horses may have competed anywhere after December 1, 2008.
2. There will be one go-round. 
3. $60 entry fee - entries close on August 1st, 2010.  Late entries accepted until 3pm September 10th with $20 late fee.
